Subject: adapt-talk: Terminology
What is the reasoning for the term \"adapted\" and not \"adaptive\".
I use the correct terminology, but teachers at my schools are constantly
using the wrong terminology and they want to know the reasoning as to
why it was \"adapted\" and not \"adaptive\". Well, thanks for the time to
answer.
Sincerely,
Rudy

Subject: adapt-talk: What Has happened to Adapt-Talk Messages & Digests?
I'm writing to assure you that adapt-talk is still a reality and will soon
be back on line, better than ever. You can expect to see digests again
within the next 10-14 days. Once they begin, they will continue on as
smoothly as pe-talk.
As it is with pe-talk, adapt-talk is professionally moderated. This is
required in order to guarantee a professional and non-commercial
environment. However; unlike pe-talk (which has a web-based system that
allows it to be moderated from anywhere in the world at any time), I could
only moderate adapt-talk, from my office PC. There were numerous
technical
issues, e-mail language incompatibilities, physical sentence structure
problems; the list goes on. There was also the requirement of my
presence.
The net result was that we decided on a complete rebuild and the
development of a web moderation site. When we soon come back up live,
that's what will be in place. Perhaps in 5 years, like pe-talk, you'll
see
your unbroken line of Digests, fly past the 1,000 mark.
Finally; during the transition, some of the messages that were posted, may
have vanished into cyberspace. If, at the end of the first week of new
Digests, you have not seen your message, please accept our apologies and
if
you can, post it again. You should be able to retrieve the email message
you've sent, by looking in the \"Sent\" folder of your email program. The
fastest way to locate it, is to alphabetize by address sent to. That will
bring adapt-talk@lists.sportime.com to the top.

Subject: adapt-talk: New student ideas
Hi Everyone,
This is my first time on this service. I think it is a great help to
all.
I have just learned for next year I will have a student with autism
A wheel chair bound student with severe MS, and a student who is
Mongoloid and uses a feeding tube. I have never worked with students
like this before. They will be included with a fifth grade class.
There is an aide who will be coming with them to help. I would like to
know how I can adapt my sports units so they can benefit from my class.
Thanks for any ideas you might have.

I am working on a masters project that involves developing a martial
arts program for students with disabilities. Research in this area is
minimal and I was wondering if anyone knew of sources of information
in this area.
