Hi everyone,
I was wondering what everyones dress policy was. We have had a number of them and the one we are using this year is being struck down.
Crurrent (renews every quarter)
1st non dress warning
2nd non participation and phone call home
3rd detention
4th referal
5th phone call home
6th detention
7th referal
etc..
For each non dress 7 out of 10 points can be earned back by doing book work (70% is a D on our scale)

The main thing is they don't want to deal with the referals

What do you use??

Thanks
Mike

Why don't you just use participation points and they lose daily participation points if they don't dress out?

Mike,

Have you ever considered the reasons why students are not wishing to dress out? Sometimes as teachers we forget to look at what we are offering to the students; are the activities developmentally appropriate, are they inclusive, is instruction progressive, are the activities challenging, and are they FUN to do! Listen to the voices of the students and they usually are on target.

Your right John and yes I have talked to my students. I only have a few problems every year but we need a department wide intervention to deal with these few problems and deter the occasional I don't feel like dressing so I wont dress day that effects almost everyone. (I know I have days when I don't feel like working out and if I didn't have someone to keep me accountable, I wouldn't go to the gym). The students who have habitual dressing problems usually have problems in every class.

Thanks
Mike
